The involvement of volunteers can be the difference between success and failure of your mission, but doing this effectively is an area in which some organisations struggle.

This course will help you to:

  • Understand best practice in involving volunteers in developing and delivering strategy including through the Investing in Volunteers framework
  • Review common gaps in volunteer involvement
  • Consider why you involve volunteers and be clear about what they can contribute to your organisation and your beneficiaries
  • Identify how you can involve volunteers in developing, reviewing and evaluating your strategy
  • Consider what mechanisms you can use to hear volunteers’ voices
  • Review how volunteers are included in plans at all levels of the organisation from your overall strategic plan through to individual teams and workers’ plans
  • Consider what training and support volunteers need
  • Review the role of volunteer managers and their link between volunteers and strategy
