Benefits

Funders and commissioners are increasingly looking for service users to be involved in planning and reviewing services. Effective service user engagement can help staff trouble-shoot problems with services, drive innovation, and give you better evidence of your impact.

 

Content

This workshop will examine key issues and best practice in service user consultation, including:

  • Why involve service users? Examining different reasons for consulting service users.
  • How to reach and engage different service users: designing appropriate engagement to meet your aims.
  • Protecting your service users: understanding consent and confidentiality.
  • Ensure continuing engagement from your service users and staff: ongoing service user involvement and changes to your service.

Participants will work through their own requirements for service user involvement and produce an action plan for increasing service user consultation. This will address the aims of involving their service users, needs and barriers to participation, suitable methods for engagement, and structures for continuing involvement.
